Project Manager (Vancouver Head Office Move) - In this project Rob
was
responsible for planning an Office Move for Teck Resources, Canada's
largest mining company. Head Office Vancouver moved into
the new Bentall 5 building (5 floors) and the logistics of moving
the IT Infrastructure and all associated computers, networking gear,
phone system, and software was Rob's main responsibility.
Specifically, Rob will plan and coordinate all IT (Technology)
related moves :
- Moving all the servers to a
new Calgary Data Centre and building a new Data Centre in
Bentall 5 Vancouver.
- Designing, purchasing, and
installing a new VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) Cisco Phone
System.
- Designing, purchasing, and
installing a new Security System (Siemens) with multi-chip
Access Cards.
- Evaluating and choosing a new
Printer fleet (Canon and HP).
- Designing, purchasing, and
installing a new Enterprise Backup and Recovery System (CommVault
and Data Domain).
- Implementing a Disaster
Recovery Plan.
- Coordinating the move of all
Software Applications to the new Data Centre.
- Designing, purchasing, and
installing a new Video Conferencing system (Polycom) in Bentall 5.
Project Manager (ElkValley Coal Integration) - In 2008, Teck
acquired ElkValley Coal and Rob was responsible for completing the
IT Integration into the Teck domain. This included :
- Migration of all eMail and
Active Directory accounts.
- Workstation and Server domain
migration.
- Video Conferencing
integration.
- Deployment of VOIP throughout
the 8 mine sites at ElkValley.
- WAN and LAN integration.
Project Manager (Teck Office Moves) -
Currently Rob is currently coordinating the office moves in Toronto, Santiago
(Chile), and Beijing (China).
Fraser Health Authority (FHA),
Greater Vancouver (2002-2007)
Project Manager - For over 5 years Rob provided
Project Management services to FHA for various patient care,
financial systems, and audit control systems. Rob lead
various development teams in supporting these and many other applications. In early 2005
Rob and his team deployed an Audit system in the FH Emergency rooms
which tracks infractions to patient privacy and more recently
deployed a Prenatal Registration system, Autism network system, a
Psychiatric Liaison Nurse System, Adolescent Crisis Response System,
Adolescent Daytime Treatment System, and Early Psychosis
Intervention System.
Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (VCH),
Greater Vancouver (2006-2007)
Project Manager - Rob is managing a development team to
deploy a new
web-based Interpreting Services Management System for VCH and FHA
which allows for the dispatch of interpreters to medical facilities
in Vancouver. The major challenge encountered is coordinating
a parallel development between the to 2 health authorities which
have diverse technical infrastructures.
Prince Rupert Port Authority (February
2007 - March 2007)
IT Consultant & PM - Rob was responsible for a Server Refresh
Project for PRPA and new DELL Servers were purchased and configured
with MS Small Business Server, MS Exchange Server, and MS Terminal
Server. The products were then shipped to Prince Rupert where
they were installed, configured and tested.
Prince Rupert Port Authority (October
2006 - January 2007)
IT Consultant & PM - Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) has contracted Rob to perform a
complete Technology Audit of the Head Office IT Infrastructure.
This project covers a complete assessment of PRPA's
hardware, software, networks, and communications systems and ends in
a complete multi-year strategy for improving their entire
Information Systems and Technology program and deploying a Disaster
Recovery Plan (DRP).
Eldorado Gold Corp, Vancouver (March
2006 - May 2006)
IT Consultant & PM - Eldorado Gold has contracted Rob to perform a
complete Technology Audit of the corporate-wide IT Infrastructure.
This 6 week project covered a complete assessment of Eldorado's
hardware, software, networks, and communications systems and ended in
a complete multi-year strategy for improving their entire
Information Systems and Technology program.
BC Liquor Distribution Branch,
Burnaby (June 2005-Oct 2005)
Project Management Office (PMO) - Mazacom coordinated the development and
implementation of a Project Management Office (PMO) and SDLC "Best Practices" methodologies.
The PMO is accessed through an Intranet developed by Mazacom
providing the LDB project teams with several pages of instructional
material, documents, templates, and samples enabling them to deliver
successful projects.
PMI (Project Management Institute) best practices and industry
standards were closely adhered to.

BC Liquor Distribution Branch |
Quartech Systems Ltd., Burnaby
(Feb 2002-2007)
Project Manager - While on contract with Quartech Systems Ltd
(Burnaby, BC), Rob coordinated the development and implementation of
Project Management and Software Development "Best Practices"
methodologies. Following the ITIL (Information Technology
Infrastructure Library) model for operations and services delivery,
Rob developed a Services Management Office and has implemented a
Project Management Life Cycle model accessible from their internal
PMO Intranet. Rob also developed and deployed Quartech's
internal Corporate Intranet.
Ministry of Human Resources (MHR), Vancouver/Victoria (Nov 2003-Nov
2004)
Project Manager – Rob managed a team of
developers to implement a Data Archival and Destruction process for
archiving and purging records in the ministry’s mainframe
environment. As the client is in Victoria, Rob is capable of
managing the project and its resources remotely from the Quartech
offices.
Ledcor Industries Ltd., Vancouver (July 2004-Nov 2004)
Project Manager and Logistics Coordinator - In November of
2004, Ledcor moved its Head Office from one building to another and
Rob was contracted to Project Manage the move from an IT
perspective. Building a new Server Room, moving the Servers, moving
200+ PC Workstations, moving phone systems, security systems, paging
systems, and wiring new desks were all handled logistically using MS
Project (Gantt chart was over 36 pages) and intense planning
delivered a move that was virtually flawless allowing over 250
employees to resume working immediately.
Workers Compensation Board of BC (WCB), Richmond (2002-2007)
Project Manager - For almost 3 years now Rob has provided
Project Management services to WCB on a wide variety of applications
and divisions within the Crown Corporation most specifically in the
Prevention and Compensation divisions. The longest project was
approximately one year in length and involved upgrading all the
Board's MS Access applications to the latest version.
IGS International Genealogical Search Inc., Burnaby (2002-2003)
Project Manager - On this project Rob led a development team
in delivering multiple, custom, software applications written in
Visual Basic and SQL Server. This project term was approximately one
year in length and was delivered on time and within budget.
